Stevie Young, rhythm guitarist for AC/DC, was hospitalized in Buenos Aires, Argentina, just days before the band’s scheduled stadium shows in the city during their ongoing Power Up world tour.
According to statements from the band’s representatives, the 69-year-old musician began feeling unwell after arriving in Argentina. As a precaution, he was admitted to a local hospital where doctors carried out a series of medical tests. The specific cause of his illness has not been publicly disclosed.
Despite the sudden hospitalization, sources close to the band indicated that Young is “doing well and in good spirits” and hopes to return to the stage soon. Officials involved with the concerts said the guitarist was eager to perform at the upcoming shows.
AC/DC are scheduled to perform three sold-out concerts at Buenos Aires’ Monumental Stadium on March 23, 27, and 31, with each show expected to draw tens of thousands of fans. The performances are part of the band’s ongoing global tour supporting their 2020 album Power Up.
Young joined AC/DC in 2014 after his uncle, founding guitarist Malcolm Young, stepped away from the band due to health issues. He had previously filled in for Malcolm during an earlier tour in 1988 before becoming a permanent member.
The band had recently performed in Santiago, Chile, before arriving in Argentina, and the tour is expected to continue across South America and later into North America later in 2026. At the moment, organizers say the Buenos Aires concerts are still expected to proceed as planned pending Young’s recovery.
