Country music legend Dolly Parton has shared a candid update regarding her health, admitting that a relentless schedule recently left her feeling "worn down and worn out."
The 80-year-old icon, known for her boundless energy and prolific work ethic, revealed that she had to take a step back after her body signaled it was time to rest. Despite her reputation as one of the hardest-working figures in entertainment, Parton acknowledged that the physical toll of her various projects finally caught up with her.
"I just kind of got worn down and worn out," Parton explained. "I’ve been doing so much, and I think I just finally hit a wall. I'm not used to that because I usually have so much energy, but I had to listen to my body and just take a little break."
The "Jolene" singer reassured fans that while she needed a period of recovery, she is not stepping away from the spotlight permanently. Instead, she is focusing on pacing herself as she continues to manage her vast empire, which includes new music, literary projects, and her Dollywood theme park.
The health update comes during a particularly busy period for Parton, who has spent the last few years crossing genre lines—most notably with her 2023 rock album Rockstar—and expanding her philanthropic efforts.
While she didn't disclose specific medical details, Parton’s trademark optimism remained front and center. She noted that the time off has allowed her to recharge her creative batteries. "I'm feeling much better now," she added. "I'm just learning that I have to be a little more careful and not try to do everything at once, even though I still want to!"
Fans and fellow artists have reached out with a wave of support for the superstar, praising her honesty about the importance of self-care, even for a legend of her stature.
