Legendary singer-songwriter Neil Diamond is preparing to release a newly unearthed album titled Wild at Heart, a project created in collaboration with acclaimed producer Rick Rubin and drawn from recording sessions nearly two decades old. The album is scheduled to arrive on May 8, offering fans a rare look at material that has remained largely unheard since its original recording period.

Wild at Heart originates from studio sessions conducted in 2007 during the making of Diamond’s 2008 album Home Before Dark. While that record became a milestone for the singer—earning him his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200—several songs from the sessions were left unfinished or unreleased. Now, Diamond has revisited the recordings and completed them, transforming the material into a full ten-track album.

The album represents the third and final chapter in Diamond’s creative partnership with Rubin. Their collaboration began with 2005’s 12 Songs, which marked a critical resurgence for the singer and showcased Rubin’s signature stripped-down production style. That approach continued on Home Before Dark, and Wild at Heart now serves as a closing statement to the trilogy of albums the pair created together.

According to Diamond, revisiting the recordings was both nostalgic and fulfilling. In a statement about the project, the singer described his time working with Rubin as “a labor of love,” expressing gratitude that the songs are finally being released to complete the body of work they began years ago.

The album includes nine previously unreleased songs along with an alternate version of “Forgotten,” a track that originally appeared on Home Before Dark. Together, the recordings reflect the intimate, emotionally driven sound that defined Diamond’s Rubin-produced era, pairing reflective lyrics with minimalist arrangements that highlight his distinctive voice.

With Wild at Heart, Diamond adds one more chapter to a career that has already spanned decades and produced dozens of enduring hits. The release not only revives music from a pivotal creative period but also gives fans a final installment in one of the most celebrated collaborations of his later career.
