Good Courage

Good Courage was formed in 2016 in Portland, Oregon, by a group of friends who shared a passion for blending folk, rock, and indie pop. Their debut EP, released in 2017, garnered local attention, leading to a series of performances at regional festivals. The band quickly gained a loyal following due to their heartfelt lyrics and engaging live shows. Over the years, they have expanded their sound, incorporating elements of electronic music and world rhythms, while maintaining their roots in storytelling and acoustic instrumentation.

Good Courage draws inspiration from a diverse range of artists and genres, including the storytelling tradition of Bob Dylan, the melodic sensibilities of Fleetwood Mac, the energy of Arcade Fire, and the introspective lyrics of Sufjan Stevens. They also cite influences from world music, particularly African and Latin rhythms, which have shaped their more recent compositions.

Good Courage consists of five members: lead vocalist and guitarist Alex Thompson, keyboardist and backing vocalist Rachel Kim, bassist Jonah Lee, drummer Sam Rivera, and violinist Emily Park. The band is known for their DIY approach to music production and has released all their music independently. Additionally, they are actively involved in environmental causes, often using their platform to promote sustainability and awareness through their lyrics and community events.
