The band initially consisted of vocalist and guitarist Allen Epley, guitarist and backing vocalist Josh Newton, bassist and backing vocalist Paul Malinowski, and drummer Jason Gerken. They gained recognition in the mid-1990s for their unique blend of post-hardcore and alternative rock, characterized by intricate guitar work and thought-provoking lyrics. After releasing their debut album, 'Splay,' in 1996, they quickly became a staple in the underground music scene.
