The Weakerthans

The Weakerthans formed in 1997 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The band was founded by former Propagandhi guitarist John K. Samson, alongside bassist Greg Smith, guitarist/keyboardist Jason Tait, and drummer/keyboardist/backup vocalist and lyricist, Sampson's childhood friend. They gained a following through their thoughtful lyrics and unique blend of punk rock and indie rock. The Weakerthans released their debut album, 'Fallow', in 1997, followed by 'Left and Leaving' in 2000, which solidified their place in the Canadian music scene. The band went on to release several more albums and became known for their poignant storytelling and introspective lyrics. After a hiatus in the 2010s, they returned to the stage for select performances, though no new album was released as of October 2023.
