Liquid Tension Experiment (LTE) is an instrumental progressive rock supergroup formed in 1997. The band consists of musicians John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess, and Mike Portnoy from the progressive metal band Dream Theater, along with bassist Tony Levin, known for his work with King Crimson and Peter Gabriel. The band's formation was prompted by a desire to jam and create music without the constraints of traditional song structures. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1998, followed by 'Liquid Tension Experiment 2' in 1999.
