The Primitives

The Primitives are an English alternative rock band that formed in 1985 in Coventry, England. The original lineup consisted of vocalist Tracy Tracy, guitarist Paul Court, bassist and backing vocalist Tig Williams, and drummer Pete D. The band gained prominence in the late 1980s with their catchy blend of pop and rock, often characterized by jangly guitars and upbeat melodies. Their debut single, 'Crash,' released in 1988, became a major hit, reaching the UK Top 5 and later gaining popularity in the United States. The band released several albums throughout their career, with varying degrees of commercial success, before disbanding in 1992. After a hiatus, The Primitives reunited in 2009 and have since toured and released new material.

The Primitives were influenced by a variety of musical styles including 1960s pop, punk rock, and the emerging indie pop scene of the 1980s. They drew inspiration from bands such as The Ramones, The Velvet Underground, and The Byrds, as well as the early Welsh pop group The Bats.
