Mazzy Star

Mazzy Star is an American alternative rock band formed in 1989 in Santa Monica, California. The band was founded by singer Hope Sandoval and guitarist David Roback, who had previously played in the band Opal. They released their debut album, 'She Hangs Brightly,' in 1990, which featured a blend of dream pop, folk, and psychedelic rock. The band gained significant attention with their 1993 hit single 'Fade Into You' from their second album, 'So Tonight That I Might See.' The band is known for its ethereal sound and melancholic lyrics. After releasing 'Among My Swan' in 1996, Mazzy Star went on a hiatus, with Sandoval and Roback pursuing solo projects. They reunited in 2000, and in 2018, they released their first album in 17 years, 'Still.' Tragically, David Roback passed away in February 2020.

Mazzy Star's sound is influenced by various genres, including folk, rock, and psychedelia.
