Love Sculpture

Love Sculpture was a Welsh rock band formed in 1966 in Cardiff. The original lineup consisted of Dave Edmunds (guitar, vocals), Ken Pustelnik (drums), and bassist and keyboardist, who later changed during the band's brief career. They initially gained attention by performing in local clubs and were known for their blues and rock style. The band's breakthrough came with their rendition of 'Sabre Dance,' which became a hit in 1968. Love Sculpture released two albums, 'Forms and Feelings' and 'The Best of Love Sculpture,' before disbanding in 1970. After their breakup, Dave Edmunds pursued a successful solo career, while Pustelnik also played with other bands.

Love Sculpture's music was heavily influenced by blues and rock, drawing inspiration from bands such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and American blues artists like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. Their sound incorporated elements of psychedelia and progressive rock, showcasing their versatility and musicianship. The band's innovative approach to guitar work, particularly by Dave Edmunds, was also influenced by the British invasion sound and early rock and roll.

Love Sculpture is best known for their hit single 'Sabre Dance,' which reached the UK Top 5 in 1968. The song was an instrumental rock adaptation of a movement from Aram Khachaturian's ballet 'Gayane.' The band was notable for its fusion of rock with classical influences and for their energetic live performances. Despite their short-lived career, they left a lasting impression in the late 1960s music scene.
