Stone Temple Pilots (STP) is an American rock band formed in San Diego, California, in 1989. The founding members include Scott Weiland (vocals), Dean DeLeo (guitar), Robert DeLeo (bass), and Eric Kretz (drums). The band gained fame in the early 1990s as part of the grunge movement, although their sound incorporated elements of alternative rock, hard rock, and psychedelic rock. Their debut album, 'Core,' released in 1992, was a commercial success, featuring hits like 'Plush' and 'Creep.' The band's follow-up albums, 'Purple' (1994) and 'Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop' (1996), further solidified their place in rock history. Over the years, STP has experienced several lineup changes and hiatuses, particularly due to Scott Weiland's struggles with substance abuse. Weiland was dismissed from the band in 2013 and passed away in 2015.
